OCEANAISDE ARTS COMMISSION MEETING OCTOBER 5, 2015 ~ 3:00 PM

This new feature of the Artists Alley Blog is to report on the state of the Arts in Oceanside CA. This blog has been online for the past three years and dealt mainly with the artists, and happenings in public art events and on the viewing of those events on a community level.

The Art Watch Oceanside feature will endeavor to keep our readers informed as to the official publications of our Arts Commission, the City Council, and the Region of our greater sphere of influence.

As a past Oceanside Arts Commissioner I no longer speak from the City sponsored and sanctioned view, but rather as a private citizen who for the past 25 years has worked in many areas of furthering the Fine Arts for the City of Oceanside. My work has been not only on the Arts Commission, but as a member of the Redevelopment Committee in the 90’s as well as the Design Review Committee.

My personal interest stems from the establishing of the first artist studio and gallery in Artists Alley. This is my history and in the here and now, I have worked with Main Street Oceanside in an advisory role.

With my membership in several Art groups I have an ongoing professional interest and strive to help my fellow artists for the advancement of public awareness of their talents and accomplishments in their work.

It is my sincere hope that this page will put our City’s new Arts and Theatre District in a more official format and that our readers will be able to take part in the new opportunities for Public Art.

Chambers.

Consent Calendar Items

Consent calendar items are considered routine and may be enacted by a single vote. There will be no separate

discussion of these items unless requested.

Public Communication Regarding Items on the Agenda

Persons who wish to speak may ask the Chair when the item is addressed. Name and address must be provided

and the person has three minutes to speak.

Public Communication Regarding Items Not on the Agenda

No action will be taken by the Commission on these items.

 Written Requests to Speak forms must be received in the Oceanside Public Library Administration Office at

least seven days prior to the meeting. The person has five minutes to speak.

 Oral Communications require a written Request to Speak form, which is available at the door and may be

completed and turned into the Recording Secretary. The person has three minutes to speak.

The Arts Commission is a formally established Advisory Commission to the City Council, and as such is bound by

the Brown Act, California’s Open Meeting Law. Under this act, any citizen has the right to address the Commission

on matters within its jurisdiction. However, the Commission may not discuss or take action on any item not

specifically listed on the agenda. Citizens who wish to have an item placed on the agenda may contact the

Oceanside Public Library no later than one week prior to the date of the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Agenda Posting and Materials

In accordance with State law, this agenda has been posted at the Ditmar kiosk at 300 North Coast Highway 72

hours in advance of this meeting.

Special Needs Accommodations

Persons with special needs because of a disability that makes it difficult to participate in the Oceanside Arts

Commission meetings may contact the Oceanside Public Library Administration Office at least 24 hours prior to the

scheduled meeting so that staff can make arrangements to accommodate the disability

Time:	1st Monday of February, April, June, August, October & December at 3:00 p.m.
Location:	Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, City Hall North
Purpose:	The Arts Commission considers and makes recommendations to the City Council on development and promotion of performing and fine arts programs and arts facilities and policies pertaining to cultural enhancement.
